Hey everyone,

Since a lot of players have been asking how to properly manage their hired NPC companions, I wanted to put together a clean, straightforward guide on the commands available to normal players.

You can hire these bots from the recruiter NPCs in-game, but once they are in your group, you can control their combat behavior, movement, and recoveries directly using chat commands.

All of these commands start with either .npcbot or the short alias .npcb.

Quick tip on targeting:

  • If you target a specific bot and type a command, it only affects that bot.
  • If you target yourself (or your own character frame) and type the command, it will apply to all active bots in your group at once.

1. Basic Commands and Bot Status

These are the everyday commands for checking up on your bots or managing their visibility.

Command Alternative Description
.npcbot info .npcb info Displays detailed stats, levels, attributes, and current gear info for the targeted bot.
.npcbot gs .npcb gs Displays the exact GearScore of the targeted bot.
.npcbot hide .npcb hide Temporarily hides the targeted bot from view (or all of them if you target yourself). Useful if they are cluttering your screen in town.
.npcbot show .npcb show Unhides and displays your hidden bots. (You can also use .npcbot unhide).
.npcbot kill .npcb kill Forces the targeted bot to die instantly (alias .npcbot suicide). Useful if a bot is bugged out and you need a quick way to reset them.

2. Stuck Recovery and Recall Commands

If your bots fall behind, get stuck in geometry, or get glitched out in combat or crowd control, these commands will bring them back to you.

Note: You cannot use recall commands if you are currently dead or in active combat.

Command Alternative Description
.npcbot recall .npcb recall Teleports all of your active active bots directly to your current coordinates.
.npcbot recall reset .npcb recall reset The ultimate recovery command. Teleports the bot (or its corpse if dead) directly to your side, clears combat, interrupts active casting, breaks all crowd control (roots, stuns, fears), stops stuck movement loops, exits passenger seats, and syncs BG status. (Note: Does not automatically revive dead bots; you must manually cast a resurrect spell on their corpse or wait out the standard 1-minute death timer).
.npcbot recall force .npcb recall force Instantly forces a quick teleport of your active bots to your current coordinates.
.npcbot recall teleport .npcb recall teleport Triggers a standard teleport of the bots to your location.
.npcbot recall spawns .npcb recall spawns Recalls your bots back to their default spawn origins.

3. Movement and Positioning

If you need to position your bots tactically (like putting a healer on high ground or keeping a tank in front), use these.

Command Alternative Description
.npcbot distance <value> .npcb distance <value> Sets how many yards behind you the bots will follow. For example, .npcb distance 5 keeps them very close.
.npcbot sendto .npcb sendto Sends the targeted bot to the location of whoever you are currently targeting (a friendly player or an enemy creature).
.npcbot sendto last .npcb sendto last Sends the bot to your last known coordinate position.
.npcbot sendto point .npcb sendto point Directs the bot to move to a ground location.
.npcbot sendto point set .npcb sendto point set Locks in a static waypoint point for the bot to stand at.

4. Behavior and AI Controls

These control the active AI state of your bots. You can tell them to stay, stop casting, or turn passive.

Command Alternative Description
.npcbot command standstill .npcb command standstill The bot will stop moving and hold its ground. It will still defend itself if attacked, but it will not follow you.
.npcbot command stopfully .npcb command stopfully Immediately interrupts whatever the bot is doing (stops spell casting, stops attacking, and halts reactions).
.npcbot command follow .npcb command follow Restores normal follow-and-fight behavior.
.npcbot command follow only .npcb command follow only Passive follow mode. The bots will follow you but will perform absolutely no other actions (no healing, no attacking, no spell casting). Highly useful when you are trying to sneak past mobs or run away from a wipe.
.npcbot command walk .npcb command walk Toggles whether your bots walk or run when catching up with you.
.npcbot command nogossip .npcb command nogossip Toggles whether right-clicking your bot opens up their configuration gossip menu.
.npcbot command unbind .npcb command unbind Temporarily unbinds the bot's movement controls from you.
.npcbot command rebind .npcb command rebind Restores normal movement binding to your character.
.npcbot command nocast .npcb command nocast Toggles spellcasting off entirely for the targeted bot.
.npcbot command nolongcast .npcb command nolongcast Toggles whether bots are forbidden from casting spells with long cast times.

5. Combat Ranges and Tactical Distances

Allows you to set how close or far your bots stay from their target in combat. Excellent for keeping your squishy casters out of melee range.

Command Alternative Description
.npcbot distance attack <value> .npcb distance attack <value> Sets the exact yard distance the bot will maintain from its combat target.
.npcbot distance attack short .npcb distance attack short Forces the targeted bot to fight at close melee range (best for tanks and melee DPS).
.npcbot distance attack long .npcb distance attack long Forces the targeted bot to stand at maximum ranged distance (best for healers, mages, and hunters).

6. Casting Orders and Vehicles

Directly command your bots to cast a specific spell, use items, or get off a mount/vehicle.

Command Alternative Description
.npcbot order cast <spell_id> .npcb order cast <spell_id> Manually orders the bot to cast a specific spell on your target. You can shift-click a spell from your spellbook or type in the spell ID. (Also accepts spell links).
.npcbot vehicle eject .npcb vehicle eject Forces the targeted bot to immediately get out of their current vehicle or mount passenger seat.
.npcbot useonbot spell <spell_id> .npcb useonbot spell <spell_id> Casts a specific spell directly on the targeted bot.
.npcbot useonbot item <item_id> .npcb useonbot item <item_id> Uses a specific inventory item on the targeted bot.

Hope this makes playing with NPCBots a lot easier. Don't forget that you can also right-click your active bots to open up their gossip menu, where you can easily configure their roles, talents, and equipment without needing to type commands.
